Maria Danvers was born July 11, and lived her entire childhood on a farm with her parents and
seven younger siblings in the cozy community of Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. At age nine, Maria
performed for the first time, singing at a family reunion. However, it wasn't until age
thirteen, after listening to Reba McEntire's hit song, "Is There Life Out There," when Maria
made it her goal to become a successful singer. By age sixteen Maria was taking vocal lessons
with Dineen Sehn who encouraged the aspiring singer to develop her natural talent.
After graduating from high school Maria moved to Saskatoon and pursued a career as a singer and continued vocal training. Maria earned a living as a file clerk for an accounting firm by day, and spent her free time training her voice and building contacts. In the fall of 2000 Maria called Calgary-based music manager, Ann Hutter. The two women met on several occasions traveling back and forth between cities, and a mutual respect for each other's goals and talents formed. A year later, Maria moved to Calgary to be close to the hub of the "Country Music" scene in Canada and to work on a professional music career. She formed a show and worked on stages as far North as Whitehorse, Yukon and as far South as Orlando, Florida from 2002 to 2005.
Maria took time off the road and while on hiatus she got married, started her family and wrote songs. Maria plans to record her first album Winter of '09 and schedule her tour for Spring of '09. The show has the flexibility to scale from an intimate acoustic setting to a full band production with a repertoire of Top 40 Country, Classic Country, Pop, Classic Rock and Maria Danvers Originals.
Maria is a natural beauty with a dynamic voice. She walks through life with a positive attitude, is genuine, and truly cares about people. Maria enjoys a grassroots lifestyle and when on stage she delivers an honest performance for the folks who come to see her shows. Her goal is to encourage and inspire; to be a bright spot in the world.
